Looking to start a career as a professional bus driver? Our Class B license training program in Ontario is designed to prepare you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to operate large passenger vehicles safely and professionally.

What is a Class B License?

A Class B license allows you to operate large buses, including:

  • School buses
  • City transit buses
  • Motor coaches and passenger buses
  • and may also drive vehicle in Class C, D, E, F and G

This license is required for drivers responsible for transporting multiple passengers safely across urban and highway routes.

What You’ll Learn in Our Class B Training Program

Our program provides both theoretical and hands-on training, including:

  • Pre-trip inspection procedures
  • Passenger safety and management
  • Defensive driving techniques

  • Backing and maneuvering
  • Air brake system knowledge (Z endorsement if required)

Minimum Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age

  • Meet medical & vision standards

  • Must have valid Ontario driver’s license “G” or higher

  • Not have accumulated more than 6 demerit points

  • Not have had a driver’s license under suspension at any time within the preceding 12 months as a result of being convicted of certain driving related and Criminal Code of Canada offenses.

  • Effective January 1, 2017, MTO requires drivers who are applying for a Class B or E license to obtain a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters (CRJM) Check or equivalent.

    Applicants can apply for a CRJM Check at their local police service or through an authorized criminal record check provider.

    Please submit the original, completed CRJM Check or equivalent by mail or courier to MTO, along with your driver’s license number to:
